Not what I expected, but still useful. I was hoping for more depth- a series of stories, teachings, or meditations to help me get closer to creator, but the book was very small was just a page for each day with a short quote from a tribal leader and/or a "did you know?" fact of some kind or a "this day in Native history" fact. Each month there was one 'red road lesson', most of which any adult would already be familiar with. That being said, I would recommend that parents buy this book and read the date with their young ones, or perhaps give it as a gift to a 'coming of age' young adult the year before their vision quest or maybe as a gift for a girl's sunrise ceremony (or whatever your tribe's equivalent). It is an easy read, very appropriate for young people. Parents- it would take two minutes to do it every morning with your kid, and once a month you could discuss that 'red road lesson', and expand on it with your own teachings.

It's very difficult to remain civil in a country where in 400 years 95% of your kind were killed. Yet, us older ones realized the winds of change have come upon us. We must walk the Red Road and teach the younger ones to do the same. Now more than ever. I'm overjoyed when a young (or old) person seeks to reconnect with with Native American blood. Many are finding their way home again. May Wankan Tanka have mercy on us all. Night Horse.

I looked forward to reading the day's "quote/knowledge" every morning before departing for work. Makes one realize that the Native Americans had it all figured out about how to live ethically and in harmony with the land and nature; and valued the things that are sacred.

This is a great little book with terrific insights into Native American teachings and philosophy. Full of wisdom and practical applications for how to live a happier, more empathetic life.

Excellent resource for daily reflections in this Western Civilization.

This book is something that anyone who values their native american heritage or just relates better to the native way of life needs to read. It really gives light to how we should all be, gives the morals and ideals that need to be held dear, and really is inspiring to do your best in everything and be the best person you can be. It also holds some awesome little tidbits of information that a lot of people can't find hardly anywhere.

my wife got this book for me for christmas. i found it on a differant site and asked for it. i'm realy happy she got it for me. the discription that i read on the other site was not even close to what is in this little book. the first thing i do when i get up in the morning is to read the days words of wisdom. i find it to be very insparational. it is only the 17th of jan. and i have repeted the quotes to other people several times. i can hardly wait see what's next. i'am enjoying it alot. not every quote of the day is spiritual. some are more historical. i would recomend this book to anyone who is interested in native american history or culture for any reason. no matter what you beleive in spiritualy. most of the dayly readings will help guide you on a better path. no matter if it's the red road or a different path. i feel if you truly read the words written in your heart. you will benifit spiritualy from this book.

A PERFECT BOOK TO TAKE A FEW MINUTES EVERY MORNING OR EVENING TO READ THE DAILY DEVOTION OF LIVING THE NATIVE AMERICAN PATH. THIS REMINDS YOU TO BE GOOD, WALK RIGHT, AND NEVER FORGET OUR CREATOR. KEEP IT CLOSE BY. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW MINUTES TO READ THE "WORDS OF THE DAY". YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO BE NATIVE AMERICAN TO GET A LOT OUT OF THIS BOOK. IT'S A RATHER SMALL BOOK, PURSE SIZE AND EVEN PERFECT TO TAKE PLACES WHERE YOU MAY HAVE A SHORT WAIT SO YOU CAN READ IT THEN MEDITATE A LITTLE TO ABSORB THE MEANING OF THE PASSAGES. BUY IT TODAY!
