This is another book in the Recency House Party. I devoured all of the first books in the Recency House Party. The were all well written and I loved their story line. I'm glad Ian got his own book because if his twin was good he had to be too. Thank you for continuing the Recency House Party. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Lord Ian Pinkerton thought that all of his problems were over. Who cares that his brother, the one who inherited the family title, estates, and fortune, has cut him off? What does he need with an annoying, strict, do-gooder brother telling him to cut down on the gambling, on the drink, anyway? He'll show him! But, then Ian arrives at the estate that he won in a game of cards to find that it doesn't so much need 'minor repairs' as it needs rebuilding. Which takes money. Money that Ian doesn't have (he is, in fact badly in debt). And, as he hits rock bottom, Ian begins to see his life, and mistakes, in a different light. Catriona is at first horrified when she finds that Ian is her new neighbor. She's a widow with a young son and dealt with quite enough gambling and drinking with her late husband, thank you very much. Sure, Ian isn't hard on the eyes, but she's not looking for a repeat. But, Ian is really good with her son, and as time goes by, Catriona begins to see another side of Ian, and changes in him. This is a clean read, which I appreciate. This book contains characters that were first introduced in another story the author wrote as part of another series, but it is not necessary to have read that book before this one (I didn't). Ian isn't particularly admirable to start with, but he's not really evil. He has issues, but he's really more childish than anything, so it isn't hard to root for him to grow up and become the man he eventually does. I received an ARC from the author. I was not required to write a review but chose to do so and the opinions stated are my own.

This is my first book from Mindy Burbidge and I’m sure I’ll be reading more of her books!I love Regency Romances and this one was heartwarming and inspiring.Ian Pinkerton is the younger irresponsible brother, enjoying what life gives him, until his brother cuts him off, tired of his bad ways and gambling vices. But when he wins an estate after a game of cards he thinks his luck is changing. That is, until he arrives to his new home, which is falling apart. But things take on a new light when he meets a little boy that likes to explore and play in his castle... and his beautiful mother as well. Catriona is a baroness in hiding. A widow trying to protect her son, and that has seen the bad effects gambling and vices had on her deceased husband. So when he meets Ian, she wants nothing to do with him... but her son thinks otherwise and her heart starts to think so too. And then, when danger arrives, will she trust this neighbor with her safety and that of her son? It’s a sweet romance with endearing characters. I liked their interactions and witty banter at times. The romance was clean, as I like it. I liked how Ian changed and matured through out the story. It was easy to root for both of them until they got their HEA.I totally recommend this book! A delightful read!I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and unbiased review

Twin brother completely opposite, the younger a never do well, the oldest the perfect one. Enter in a small boy and a Dutchess incognito. The younger is a gambler and his latest win was the straw that broke the camel's back. A castle that is crumbling to the ground. But, it is next door to a little boy who likes to sneak into the castle and battle the enemies and save the good. Man meets boy and a friendship begins, thus so does Love, love for the boy and his mother. It completely changes the gambler. If you like good clean books with a little whit, a lot of love and a happy ending, I recommend this book to you.

No matter the time or century, dealing with alcohol and gambling affects family and friends. This story shows it’s possible to overcome vices and the past. A good clean romanceI received an advanced copy and this is my honest review

The premise of this book was promising, and I enjoyed most of it, but the ending was just totally implausible in so many ways. Also, I understood how the heroine grew to love the hero, but I never understood where Ian's feelings came from, other than he thought she was attractive and liked her son. Plus, the book was marred by poor editing, especially with the misuse of homonyms, e.g., "parish" for "perish," "want" for "wont," and over and over again it used an apostrophe to indicate a plural. I admit to a touch of OCD when it comes to some grammar errors, and this mistake was so frequent it had me twitching by book's end.

Ian is a second son. He believes that he doesn't need his older twin bother's support when he wins Dunbarton estate, until he sees it in severe disrepair.Ian loves his cup and his cards.Catriona "Cat" is a baroness who is protective of her son.She meets Ian when he's been in his cups and, short on coin, pushing his expenses off to his older, titled brother. She's not impressed. But she just may need his help when and old treat pops back up....Recommend.I voluntarily reviewed this book.

This was a delightful book. The characters were real, each having their own voice and personality that developed nicely with the story. The author did a great job revealing the plot little by little, so as a reader, we could like, dislike, and change our opinion of the characters as we got to know them better. The plot had a number of interesting twists and turns to keep me reading (not that I would stop). An enjoyable read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my freely given, honest review.
