An essential reference text for medicolegal death investigators, law enforcement, forensic scientists and especially forensic pathologists. Applicable to those in clinical practice as well. Chock full of clear and concise tables. There is an abundance of illustrative and detailed case studies complete with summarization in the comment section. These case histories are included in a very handy index, alphabetized according to the intoxicant(s) featured. Well-researched with inclusion of journal references. So much important information packed into this attractive hardcover and at such a good price!
This is an excellent and important book. It's well written and peppered with case histories. I think everyone should read this entertaining and informative work to get a better grasp of their environment. I'm thoroughly enjoying this book.
Dr. George's book on Poisons was excellent. As a crime drama enthusiast and amateur novelist, I will definitely draw on the case studies as inspiration for plot twists. There is plenty of well-organized information that allows a reader to go as deep as they want. Because I'm not a scientist, I was worried that it might be too technical. But I think there is probably enough for the amateur as well as those that want to go extremely deep. Overall I'd recommend.
I recently bought a copy of Poison's after hearing about it from a colleague that recommended it. I was extremely impressed with this comprehensive overview of the constellation of all types of poisons - from the most potent to seemingly benign substances that can still be dangerous in the right (sometimes) massive dosages.Dr. George explains the various substances and symptoms in detail, and then follows it up with a vivid case study.
An easy read even though it is very clinical. The case studies were enlightening and amazing how people found ways to use the different poisons for homicides, suicides and ignorant of their lethal qualities. Not just for forensic investigators.

It is written in a clear and concise manner that does not require the reader to be a biochemist. I recommend this textbook without any reservations for Forensic Students, Crime Scene Investigators, and Criminal Investigators of Medicolegal Death. It is by far the single most practical text for processing the poison death scene.
