This is a great book for toddlers and children. My toddler son LOVES books and has had a little issue at daycare with being a little aggressive, he's a big boy and so when he's aggressive then it's a bigger deal than when a smaller kid is aggressive. He's very sweet and gentle and nice but also a little moody at times (he must get that from his dad LOL!) Anyway, we ordered a small collection of board books to help him understand better ways to control his emotions and redirect that negative behavior into something positive. This book is great and I'm so happy that I got it for him. I love that it's a board book because it's easy for him to turn the pages and the book has simple words and offers positive choices for my toddler.This is a great addition to his library and I'm pleased that we have it!!
I was hesitant about this book given the inconsistencies of the reviews, but I decided to get it anyways and I'm glad I did.We just received this book today and my 3yo daughter seemed to really like it. We read it a few times during the first sitting.We've had issues with sharing in general and I think this was exactly what we needed - something to show kindness as an observer vs being shown kindness first hand or worse, just being told. I don't think it's going to solve anythjng, but definitely helps start the conversation.
The illustrations are so cute and the message is great. The rhyming makes the text a little awkward (or vice versa), but it's still a good book to read through and talk about the actions of the characters. Might be best for older babies or toddlers, but even my young baby (9 mo.) enjoys this quick book if I don't read it word for word and the size of the board book is perfect for little hands (and mouths).
We love this book and have incorporated it into our nightly bedtime book routine since our daughter was 1 year old. She is now 2.5 and knows most of the words and stops to give hugs and "pat her pup" when we read those pages. It is a lovely book with simple rules, yet a powerful message that helps reinforce kind behavior and gestures to even the smallest of babes. They should make one for adults!! Lol.
This book is a favorite for my 2 year old twins and probably ranks among their top 5 books. I would say that it became really great for them around 18 months, and they still love it now, at almost 3 years old. It has such cute pictures, nice rhymes, and a theme of kindness that doesn't wear on me like some of the other books. In addition, it has just the right amount of text for this age - not so little that there is no substance, but also not so much that the kids lose focus.
This is such a wonderful book! The message is so important and I believe even very young children will understand it. I give this book as a gift to everyone I know who is having a baby along with Spoonful of Sweetness and Paper Bag Princess. I don't think you can start too soon to instill kindness in children.
This is the sweetest little book. It is one that I have purchased twice because we read it so much and my kids had it memorized. It also makes a great baby shower gift
This is a very sweet, simple book. My 14mo loves it, but it's not so young that my 3yo doesn't enjoy it as well. Highly recommended for showing kindness in action.
